Music Development Plan

Drawing on the priorities outlined in our Music Development Plan, St Andrew’s CE Primary School is committed to ensuring that every child develops a lifelong love of music and leaves our school with a strong foundation of musical knowledge, skills and confidence.

Through a rich and inclusive curriculum, pupils receive weekly music lessons, specialist singing provision and opportunities to perform, listen, compose, improvise and appraise music. We work closely with partners including Sefton Music Service, Liverpool Cathedral Schools Singing Programme and Musical Minds to provide high-quality musical experiences for all children, including whole-class instrumental tuition, choir performances and enrichment activities.

Music plays a vital role in our school community, supporting creativity, self-expression, wellbeing and worship, while celebrating a diverse range of musical traditions and cultures. Through regular performance opportunities and ambitious progression from Early Years to Year 6, we aim to inspire every child to see themselves as a musician and to experience the joy, confidence and sense of belonging that music can bring.
