SATS revision is well underway! We are hitting the ground running at the start of the Summer Term and we are looking forward to showing off all of our skills in the up-coming SATS tests.
Summer 1 Week 3
We are working through are most recent Mock papers in class this week. The Maths lessons are concentrating on topics where we could have achieved more marks. SATS questions are attached below, based on maths areas of weakness, for the children to work on at home. The answers are at the end of each set of questions. I will also be using some of these resources, in class time, this week. Any support to help the children work on these topics, would be hugely beneficial. Thank you in advance.
Summer 1 Week 1
We are carrying out revision carousels in Maths and English this week. They consist of stations around the classroom, so we can focus on lots of topics.
Below are some of the resources that we will be using, and we would greatly appreciate it if you could focus on these areas of revision, with your children. I will continue to add to this list throughout the next few weeks.

Autumn 2 Term
What a fantastic first half term we had and to finish it with a bang, with our Year 6 Assembly. You all worked so hard throughout the half term and should be proud of yourselves.
I hope that you have all had a amazing half term holiday and have re-energised yourselves ready for another fun filled half term.
Important Information for the Autumn Term 2
Any Air Raid shelters still come in, please bring them in this week, so that we can add them to the amazing display.
Spellings for Autumn 2 Half Term: You will find the new spelling list for Autumn Term 2 under the English section. The children have done so well learning their spelling words in Autumn 1 and it seems that having fewer words to learn has really had an impact on spelling so far. As well as focusing on the 5/6 words, could you also please keep refreshing yourselves with the 3/4 words as these are as important.
PE: 6WO will be swimming on a Wednesday morning
Design Technology: We will be starting our make do and mend topic, so any materials that could be donated would be highly appreciated :-)
This term in English we will linking our writing to our topic of World War ll. We will be writing diary entries about how it feels to be involved in the regimented routines of a wartime soldier, as well as the key events that took place throughout the Second World War. Followed by focusing on The Piano by Aidan Gibbons.
It is important for children to read at home as well as in school. This year the children will be given new spellings and vocabulary to help extend knowledge and understanding within English to help prepare them from their SATs and transition into the secondary school English curriculum. I have attached a recommended reading list below to help the Year 6’s and also extend their reading skills. I have also attached the Year 5/6 spelling list.
During the Autumn term Year 6 will be focusing on Number, the Number System, Calculation and Using and Applying Number through Problem Solving. This will include: Reading and Writing Numbers to 10,000,000, Place Value to 3 decimal places, using mental and efficient written strategies for all number operations, fractions / decimals / percentages and measure (where it can be used in the context of money, length, mass and capacity to apply to real-life contexts)
During the term the class will be exploring light; how it travels and can be reflected using different materials. The class will be investigating how a shadow forms, how the eye can see and what extraordinary things it does to capture an image, they will also be exploring material properties with light and will also be creating a periscope .
Our RE Topic this term is 'The Journey of Life' and how Christians and other faiths celebrate the different stages of life and development. The children will been asked to bring in photographs and objects that mark these parts of growth.
Our topic focus for this term is World War 11. The children will focus on the key events throughout the Second World War that helped to defeat the German Army.
